We usually find this edition illustrated with engravings, but some copies (including our) were illustrated with photos of paintings pasted in the text. To the P. iv of "To the Reader", Ambroise Firmin Didot declares that: "it is like farewell to typography, so dear to our family at all times, that we are giving this edition of Horace," and mentions: "For a few copies, photography, this marvel of our century, has reproduced the very designs of M. Barrias ”. This book is one of the first books illustrated by photography.Very rare.
